    Description

    Fresh merchandise
first time listed. This is a mint condition never signed & never used credit card for W.T.GRANTS, also known simply as GRANTS. There cannot be many of these out there that were never signed. It belonged to my mother.
If you are not familiar with this retailer I will share some history. The original dime store was a U.S. based chain of mass merchandise stores founded by William Thomas Grant in 1906. The first location opened in Lynn, Massachusetts. They survived from 1906 to 1976. The founder passed away in 1972. By 1936 they they were up to 100 million dollars in sales annually. At the end they had almost 1,200 locations. Kind of like the small Wal-Marts of today.
I can remember shopping at the local one during the 1960's with my mother. They had a pet department & actually sold live wild ocelot cats for .00. Every year I bought stamps & coins there including Apollo space medals. Lots of high school kids worked there part time.
The card is a dark blue and white. They did not imprint with the card holders name only the number. On the back is the slogan: ENJOY BETER LIVING WITH GRANTS CREDIT.  Three pictures included, with and without the flash.
I remember the local store very well. It was a fun place!
