Vintage Art Deco Ring 18k Gold Diamonds Baguette and Round Cut w Appraisal (6964

Description

Art Deco ring. 18k yellow gold and diamonds. Made circa 1930's.  Has independent appraisal with value of 00.00.
Measurements: Weight is 7.4 grams. US size 9. Can easily be resized. Total diamond weight is 2.01 ct and appraised as G in color and VS in clarity.
Description :  A central oval diamond surrounded by swirling rings of baguette and round cut diamonds. Well-known Art Deco jewelry designers such as Raymond Templier used different, contrasting materials that swirl together and meld with one another to form jewelry composed of contrasts that became unified. The design of this ring is reminiscent of this concept. In this case, the designer chose to use a single material, diamonds, but cut in totally different ways to form a contrast, yet matching design. The swirling shapes draw the eye around and around,higher and higher, towards the largest, central oval diamond at the apex. The gold mount swirls around the diamonds, subtly adding to the effect. At the shoulders the hoop divides into 4 arched segments that support not only the upper part of the bezel, but a gallery of gold that holds the entire ring a little way above the finger. The rest of the band is tapering gold.

We found the identical design, made by Oscar Heyman in a number of examples - some with diamonds only and some with a combination of gems; some in platinum and some in  yellow gold. Since we did not find a maker's mark on this ring, we cannot ascribe it to Oscar Heyman.
