    Description

For sale is a kit to build your own Altitude Encoder Tester.
The kit is , if you want the assembled and working tester in the photos add to your PayPal payment and I will send you one that is already built and ready to use.
This is a revision of the original kit. 2 changes are the 15 pin connector is now easier to use with no soldering needed. Also, the case is 3D printed with the holes already in place for the LED's and the cord opening. These updates will save you much time assembling your own kit. I was charging an extra 0 to assemble the kit for those that wanted one pre assembled, but now with this easier kit I will only charge extra if you want me to send you a one pre assembled. In summary the the assembly time has gone down due to the updated case and solderless 15 pin connector.

The price is lower then what it would cost you to purchase all the individual parts. If you purchase these parts separately it would cost much more when you include all the individual shipping cost.
This tester works by lighting up the LED's in a code, (Gillham Code) that you can lookup on a chart, to determine what altitude in feet your encoder is reporting. Next you simply connect vac/pressure tubing to supply your encoder and altimeter with the same air pressure. If your altimeter is set to 29.92 your encoder should report the same elevation, if not you adjust the set screws. go back and forth with high and low elevations adjusting until both are accurate. You will be able to find if your encoder is working correctly at all elevations.
You connect to your encoder, apply 12 volt power to the black and red wires, wait a few minutes for the encoder to warm up and soon the LED lights will light up in a pattern that when you look up the pattern with the chart you will be able to determine the altitude your encoder is reporting.
Shown in the first photo is a completed working tester and it is not included in this kit, but it is what yours will look like after you assemble it yourself.
Everything you will need to make your own tester is included (minus the wire).
You will need to solder the connections onto the circuit board, but the latest connector included with this kit has simple screw in attachments for the writes. No solder needed for the connector.
You will no longer need to drill the holes for the main wiring harness and the 10 LED's into the side of the case, since this new kit has all the holes pre-drilled, due to included 3D printed case.
I will add that this is all very time consuming "though less time consuming then the original kit" and that is why I chose not to assemble these before selling them.
If you would like a completely assembled tester like the one I have shown in the photos then message me when you purchase the kit and send an additional to my PayPal account. The previous kit I charged an additional 0 to assemble these prior to shipping.
I designed, built, and tested this tester myself and it works perfectly.
I purchased enough parts to build 5 of these testers (originally) but after completing the first kit I decided I did not have enough time to assemble the remaining 4 kits so I simply sold them as kits. (Started selling these this way, there was enough interest I have continued to purchase more parts and am on 3rd round of selling these kits 5 at a time.)
I will include copies of all the documents I used to develop the original tester and hope that it will be enough info for you to complete this kit on your own. I will be available to help you with a few questions you may have but please only purchase this if you feel you are knowledgeable enough to complete this mostly on your own. (I will also include a list of all the Q&A I have received and answered up to this point) (if I receive any more questions I will answer them and continue to update this Q&A section)
You will still need to have your encoder certified before you use it, and again every 2 years. But with this you can be sure everything is working correctly before taking it in to get it certified.
I pride myself for fast delivery. I will get your package to the counter of USPS and have them scan it ASAP. You will be able to see your tracking updated to "in USPS possession" right away. I am also Centrally located in the USA and near their major shipping hub.
